Intern with Nova and
One Door Studios

As Nova and the folks at One Door Studios work to turn Calculated into a major motion picture, one of our biggest goals is to increase the book’s audience to 1 Million readers before the movie releases.

We believe that YOU are our key to accomplishing this massive task. You are invited to apply for the MOD Internship!

What is a MOD intern and what do they do?

McBee/One Door (MOD) Interns will be working to brainstorm, develop, and implement methods to get Calculated in front of more readers. This will include social media, libraries, public/private schools, email lists, podcasts, and any other method we can brainstorm.

MOD interns will be working in three teams. (You can apply for your preference in the application.) These teams will be working and communicating with each other and with Nova regularly via meetings and the Discord App.

Social Media Team

This will likely be our largest team. Their objective will be to raise awareness of the books. Interns will be responsible for brainstorming and creating posts and challenges. They will be organizing collaborations with influencers and posting Nova’s content on their own social media profiles. There may be other projects that are not listed here.

Book Club Team

This team is for out of the box thinkers with initiative. Book clubs are one of our most powerful tools to reach the masses with ‘Calculated.’ Interns in this team will be developing strategies to get ‘Calculated’ into book clubs, schools, homeschool groups, youth groups, churches, and libraries. This may involve writing emails or making phone calls, collecting contact information, creating resources for book clubs, and writing ads.

Newsletter Team

This is likely to be our smallest team. Their objective will be to grow Nova’s email list which is one of her largest selling platforms. Interns will be responsible for gathering content and drafting emails. They will also be developing lead magnets and marketing strategies to attract new subscribers.

CALCULATED

Seventeen-year-old math prodigy Jo Rivers is used to people wanting her for her ability to make money. It happened in her dad’s company. It happened again after her PhD graduation. It happened once more in China when she was kidnapped by the world’s most wanted smuggler and forced to use her talent to grow a human trafficking empire.

Jo is convinced her gift is a curse and hates herself because of it – until she meets Red, a peculiar fellow captive.

Under the wise tutelage and grandfatherly care of Red, Jo begins to see how her gift and even her captivity give her a unique chance to bring down the trafficking ring.

So when Red sacrifices himself so Jo can escape, she finds herself in a completely new life with only his lessons, her gift, and a determination to use her math for good.

With help from Chan, a bitter billionaire, and Kai, his off-limits son, Jo develops a plan to dismantle the evil she was forced to take part in. But just as she begins to feel like her destiny is within reach, a mathematical error comes back to haunt her with a threat much more dangerous than even the crime ring.

To beat the odds, Jo must fight through her guilt and grief to become either the curse she always thought she was or the solution everyone wished for.

After all, destiny is no accident – it’s calculated.
